WFAA is an ABC-affiliated entertainment television channel situated in Dallas, Texas United States. It was launched and on aired first time on 17 September 1949. WFAA has a virtual channel and digital channel 8 and serving the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Former name of the WFAA was KBTV. Tegan Media owns it and WFAA-TV, News 8, News 8 HD, Channel 8 branding also used for WFAA Channel 8.
The secondary studio of the channel is located at the WFAA Communications Center Studios at 606 Young Street in downtown Dallas, and the first studio of the WFAA is used for newscasts. WFAA has an affiliation with four large networks ABC, Fox, CBS, and NBC.

Businessman Karl Hoblitzelle filed the application for the channel on 23 October 1944. It was the first request for such a television station in the Southern United States. Another application was filed by Texas oil Tom Potter for channel eight which dominant over Hoblitzelle.
Finally, the Channel 8 news live stream was aired first time on 17 September 1949 with call signs KBTV at 8:00 pm with 15 minutes inaugurating ceremony. Initially the channel broadcast one hour in the evening and variety series of the channel was Wonderland. In January 1950 Lacy Potter sold the station to Belo for $575,000.
Belo changed the station name to WFAA-TV. WFAA affiliated with NBC in 1950 and also with ABC as a secondary affiliation. From the 1950s -1980s channel 8 was popular for local programs. The Gannett Company decided to acquire the channel for $1.5 billion on 13 June 2013 and deal were finalized on 23 December.
Gannett separated its broadcast and print media on 5 August 2014 into separately traded companies. On 29 June 2015 Tegna was the full owner of WFAA channel.
