WSVN 7 News Miami is also called (Channel 7). It is a Fox-affiliated entertainment channel located in Florida, United States. The channel was founded on29 July 1956 and possessed by Sunbeam Television. WSVN News and WSVN 7 branding are used for the virtual and digital channel 7. WSVN call letters represent Seven.
WSVN 7 was on aired on 29 July 1956 as WCKT call signs. The channel was founded by Biscayne Television Corporation and originally affiliated with NBC. Niles Trammell, NBC president had 15% ownership interest in WCKT. Before affiliation with WCKT, NBC programs are produced by WFTL-TV.
When the Cox/Knight partnership got the license for station VHF Channel 7 NBC shift sits programs on WCKT. The channel also affiliated with ABC from 1956-1957. On 19 December 1962 Sunbeam Television Corporation purchased the channel for $3.4 million. Sunbeam also renamed the channel because they claimed that call letters WCKT represent the Cox/Knight station history. On 7 June 1983 they gave it call letters WSVN. After NBC affiliations WSVN produced local newscast at noon on weekdays.
NBC moved to WTVJ on 1 January 1989 and WSVN acquired the Fox affiliation.
